Role of the Inclusion Working Group
1 Support the implementation of the Equality, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility Policy
By exploring ways to ensure that members do not experience discrimination on the basis of their ‘protected characteristics’: ethnic origin, nationality (or statelessness) or race; age; disability; religion or belief (including the absence of belief); marital or civil partnership status; sexual orientation; pregnancy; gender reassignment; political belief.
2 Ensure equal access to our groups, wherever possible, in order to ensure that a wide range of people can participate in our activities and meetings.
• Promoting inclusion through the way we ‘market’ our u3a
• Developing relationships and links with other groups and organisations to promote inclusion
3 Help to make sure that all members are aware of our policies and procedures in relation to equality, diversity, inclusion and accessibility as well as the Members Code of Conduct.
By advising on:
• Internal communication including website content
• processes including meetings and events
4 Assist Accessibility Officer whose role it will be to ensure that both new and existing members can access the members’ meetings and groups that they would like to join and consider what ‘reasonable adjustments’.
