We are a very friendly non-judgemental group, happy to share our knowledge with each other.

We currently have 6 members, and across the group as a whole we play Descant (Soprano), Treble (Alto), Tenor and Bass recorders. Some members play just one type of recorder, others play several instruments.

We can recommend suitable teach-yourself tutor books for beginners who might be interested in joining us but who don't yet have any playing experience.

The level of ability varies widely within the group, from early beginner to about Grade 5. However, each week we include something appropriate for everyone, ranging from very basic to about Grade 4. Some pieces are in unison, whereas others have as many as 5 separate parts playing together.

Much of our repertoire comes from the Renaissance and Baroque periods of the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries when recorders were very popular instruments. However, we also play a variety of other pieces, including some popular modern items such as Scarborough Fair and The Wellerman.
